I enjoyed drawing as a child, however, I never pursued art in college and for over forty years my artistic tendencies remained dormant. My natural direction began to surface when I worked with Deborah and Jack Bartello doing their personal growth seminars.

Eager to explore spiritual types of art, I became fascinated with mandalas which are designs in a circle. I was so taken with them that I couldn’t stop drawing them. Click here to see my mandalas.

My recent direction is Spontaneous Art. This website includes many of my spontaneous paintings and acrylic work which is a combination of design and spontaneity. After so much serious work, it is fun to be playful and whimsical.

I participated in a project in Vero Beach Florida where 52 artists decorated sea turtles to benefit the Mental Health Association. The turtles decorated the community in public places and later were auctioned for charity.

On the personal side, I’ve been married to Bud Brooks, a dentist and entrepreneur, for over forty years and we now have 3 grandchildren. Our two children are both married living in Denver, Colorado. Bud and I live in Vero Beach, Florida for most of the year and we have a log cabin in the mountains of Colorado which we visit during the summer and fall. As part of our interest in helping Planet Earth, we founded a company called Global Renewable Energy based in Sebastian, Florida. You may learn more about our company by clicking the link for GRE21 on my Friends page.

~BARB’S TIP~

We are all creative in infinite ways. Human beings need to have some kind of creative expression or it can lead to depression. Creativity may range from decorating a home to building a business or baking a cake. If you know a depressed person that is struggling with life, help them get interested in a project - maybe build a birdhouse or maybe finger paint! Anything that brings out the creative process and perhaps they will cheer up and get inspired. It’s worth a try.
